About Pastor Deas and lst Lady Janis Deas…
Earnest Leonardo Deas is one of 12 children born to Thomas and Uneedia Deas of Florence, SC. He was baptized in Jesus’ name at the early age of nine. Since that time, he has been serving God and working in His vineyard. Pastor Deas also has three brothers who are also pastors.
Pastor Deas completed Morehouse College with a B.S. Degree in Psychology. He later attended the Interdenominational Theological Center from which he obtained a Master of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Care. In 1975, Pastor Deas began his pastoral ministry by teaching Bible Classes in the home of Sis.
Grace McGill. Since that time, Pastor Deas has taught many Bible Classes and delivered countless sermons resulting in many souls being saved. The Lord has blessed us through Pastor Deas, a man of great faith, to purchase our present edifice here at 2857 Zane Grey Drive, Atlanta.
On July 6, 1991, Pastor Deas was ordained as an Elder by Bishop Edward Smith, Presiding Bishop of the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc.
Pastor Deas is a retired Commander from the City of Atlanta Police Department. While employed there he wore many hats, one of which was serving in the capacity of a Chaplain and coordinated all Law Enforcement Chaplains’
Certification Training throughout the State of Georgia on behalf of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
Our pastor is very happily married to lst Lady, Janis (Brown) Deas. Sis. Deas’ number one priority has always been her God, her husband, and to rear her children. She believes that when assigned to do any job, you should only give your best, and always ask for God’s blessing and help. She is a good example to the church family in her faithfulness in church attendance, her prayer life, and in her demeanor. Among her many roles, she is also co-coordinator for the Married Couples’ Ministry, has been a teacher during Regional and National Seminars for married women, and she retired after serving over 25 years as a Junior Sunday School Teacher. Pastor and Sis. Deas are the proud parents of three children: Dawn Nyasha, Emmanuel LaKing (Natalie), and Eldrin Lamar (Kriss), and three grandchildren, Draiden, Nailah & Neyah, and numerous spiritual children. They have taught their children by their example that the work of the Lord always comes first, therefore all of the children serve in various capacities in the ministry.
Our pastor is a visionary and always seeks to implement programs and spiritual growth for the people of God. After many years of prayer and God’s guidance, the Agape Wholisitc Life Changing Ministries was born. Our pastor’s short term goals are (1) to improve the wholistic ministry of the church; (2) to establish a network to ensure that all saints have good, stable jobs and a home, if they so desire. Pastor Deas’ long range goal includes a plan to purchase or build another church and move from our current location.
