Bishop Earnest L. Deas
Bishop Earnest L. Deas is one of 12 siblings and was born and reared in Florence, South Carolina. After graduation from high school he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he obtained a B.S. Degree in Psychology from Morehouse College. He later received a Master of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Care from the Interdenominational Theological Center, located in Atlanta.
Pastor Deas received Christ into his life at the early age of 9 years old. In 1975, he began his pastoral ministry by teaching bible classes in one of the member’s home. Since that time, the church has relocated 3 times and then moved to our present edifice at 2857 Zane Grey Drive, Atlanta, Georgia. Pastor Deas is a great man of faith which he relied upon when purchasing our present edifice, proceeding to the closing and obtaining the rest of the down payment while in route. He was ordained as an Elder on July 6, 1991 and was consecrated as Bishop on November 10, 2012. Pastor Deas continues to preach countless sermons and teach many bible classes inviting souls to turn their lives over to Jesus Christ. He is always available for counsel to the members and those who are recommended to him as well.
Pastor Deas retired as a Commander in the City of Atlanta Police Department in 2006. While employed at APD he wore many hats, one of which was serving as a Chaplain and coordinating all Law Enforcement Chaplains’ Certification Training throughout the State of Georgia on behalf of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
Our pastor is very happily married to Lady Janis (Brown) Deas. To this happy union were born three children, Dawn Nyasha, Emmanuel LaKing and Eldrin Lamar. They are also the proud grandparents of Draiden, Nailah, Neyah and Miles.
Among the many hats they wear at Agape, Pastor and Lady Deas are also Co-Coordinators of the Married Couples Ministry to which they bring over 45 years of marital experience. They organize marriage retreats which are held throughout the metro Atlanta area, hold many seminars at their church, and fellowship events at various members’ homes. Pastor Deas stresses pre-marital counseling and requires the same before performing nuptials for couples. He personally presides over these sessions which can last up to 2-3 months.
Our pastor is a visionary and always seeks to implement programs and spiritual growth for the people of God. After many years of prayer and God’s guidance, and serving under the auspices of another church organization, the Agape Wholisitc Life Changing Ministries was born. Our pastor’s short term goals are (1) increase the Kingdom of God through quality / quantity and to improve the wholistic ministry of the church; (2) to establish a network to ensure that all members have good, stable jobs and a home, if they so desire. Pastor Deas’ long range goal of moving from our Zane Grey property was realized January 2018 with the purchase of our present edifice at 2200 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia. To God be the glory!
